knit workshops

I am very excited to get the chance to run a number of workshops in creative knitting at the wonderful Heart Space Studio, Redland, Bristol. These one day project will delve into the possibilities when knitting your very own lampshade. The workshops are suitable for all levels of skill and open to all. I will be joining a team of established designers, makers and artists who make Heart Space Studio's a place that buzzes with energy. Check out the Heart Space Studio website to see how to book onto one of the course either on the 25th April or 26th May (keep a look out for more days and evenings to be added to this list), and browse the huge range of workshops available.

This course will introduce knitting techniques and designs that will transform those precious threads into a textured, colourful and stylish lampshade.  Bring your collection of yarns and knitting needles - the framework for your lamp is provided alongside an optional light base.

I have work in the new exhibition 'Mapping the Future' from the Textile Forum South West

'Maps can show connections between people and places, there can also be gaps and edges and unknowns. Maps are as much to do with philosophy as geography. They are not two-dimensional pictures of the world but windows on to a subtle and complex world-view. Maps can be highly selective and show geographic, psychological, social and economic places. Places are not static.'

In my piece I have continued exploring my interests in the 'embodied understanding' and haptics. mapping the parts of the body that I feel have the strongest influence on my creativity.
